Hello! I'm Joban Singh, a 19-year-old with roots in the vibrant state of Punjab, India. My journey started in Punjab, but it took a significant turn when my family moved to Edmonton, Canada, when I was just 5 years old. Growing up in Edmonton has allowed me to blend my rich cultural heritage with the diverse Canadian environment, creating a unique fusion of traditions and experiences.
One of the most significant ways I've stayed connected to my roots is through the folk dance of Bhangra and the rhythmic beats of the Dhol. These traditional Punjabi art forms have been integral to my life for as long as I can remember. From a young age, I was captivated by the energy, joy, and cultural significance that Dhol brought to any occasion. Watching performers in Punjab skillfully play the Dhol ignited a deep passion within me, leading me to immerse myself in mastering Dhol playing.
My journey with Dhol has been more than just a personal endeavor; it's been a mission to preserve and share my culture with the wider community in Edmonton. Whether I'm performing at cultural events, teaching others, or playing at special occasions, my goal is to keep the vibrant spirit of Punjab alive and thriving.
Playing the Dhol brings me immense joy, and I love seeing the excitement it sparks in others. This passion has driven me to offer my services for bookings at events. By sharing the infectious rhythms of the Dhol, I aim to create memorable experiences that celebrate and honor our rich cultural heritage. Whether it's a wedding, festival, or any special event, I'm dedicated to bringing the lively essence of Punjab to every performance.
